Meeting Point: In front of the Inca Statue, in the center of Plaza de Armas (Main Square), Cusco.

Hello! I’m Jose Martinez, a licensed local tour guide in Cusco and a former trekking guide to Machu Picchu. I invite you to join my Free Walking Tour Cusco, a 2 to 2.5-hour journey through the city’s most authentic, historic, and photogenic sites—all from a true local perspective.

This pay-what-you-want walking tour is designed to help you discover Cusco’s rich history, from the Inca Empire and Spanish colonial influence to the vibrant life of the modern city. I’ll take you through hidden alleys, ancient temples, and panoramic viewpoints while sharing fascinating stories, local legends, and insider recommendations on where to eat, shop, and explore.

Highlights of the Free Walking Tours Cusco

During the tour, you’ll discover:

  • The map of Inca Cusco, designed in the shape of a sacred puma.
  • The very beginning of the Inca Trail network, hidden within the city.
  • Sun Street, where perfectly fitted Inca walls have stood for centuries.
  • The Sun Temple (Qoricancha)—the “Golden Enclosure,” home to some of the finest Inca stonework and the spiritual center of the Inca Empire. (Not included on the 3:00 PM tour.)
  • The remains of an Inca palace, showcasing Inca urban planning and architecture.
  • A street lined with massive Inca stones, some weighing more than eight tons.
  • The famous Twelve-Angled Stone, one of Cusco’s most iconic landmarks.
  • The artistic San Blas neighborhood and its panoramic viewpoint overlooking Cusco’s red rooftops.
  • Depending on the tour schedule and availability, we may also include complimentary local experiences such as a ceviche-making demonstration, a Pisco Sour demonstration, seasonal fruit tastings, and tastings of native Andean potatoes. These experiences vary by departure time and are included whenever possible.
